Ribbon Christmas Tree Ornaments

This last month, at our Crafting Saturday afternoon, I learned how to make Christmas Tree Ornaments. Oh my goodness, let me tell you, once you get the hang of it, they are cost efficient, super easy and fun!

Supplies per Ribbon Tree:

Needle
Thread
Scissors
Fine-tip Sharpie
16" Ribbon
2 seed beads*
10 trunk beads**
(also if you have it, fray stay fabric glue)

 *Your small beads
**Your larger beads

Here is a step-by-step process:

Thread your needle, you want it double with a knot at the end.

Take your ribbon and mark a dot 2.75" from the end.

If you want to make more than one at a time, lay the ribbons next to each other, following the same pattern...

Mark along the way as follows:

2.75"(first mark)
2.5"
2.25"
2.0"
1.75"
1.5"
1.25"
1.0"
.75" (last mark)

Take your threaded needle. Thread it through the trunk bead, then the seed bead, loop it around and back through the trunk bead (or you can just tie a big knot and thread it through the seed and then the trunk bead).

Thread it through the first black dot on the ribbon (this was the one marked at the 2.75" mark). Thread a bead on it.

Fold the ribbon down (making sure it doesn't twist), thread it through the next black dot (2.5" mark). Thread another bead.

Continue back and forth until you reach the top. Finish by threading the needle through a seed bead. Pull all beads down making sure the string is tight throughout the ribbon tree.

Thread back down into the trunk bead and loop back up again.

Finish off by tying it off near the seed bead and then at the top, allowing a loop so it can be hung.

... And there it is! Just trim off the top and bottom and add fray sealant depending on the ribbon. The trickiest part is the knots but they can be done in different ways so there's room for error.

Merry Christmas!
